A number of National Resistance Movement party Members of Parliament who supported the presidential age limit amendment will hence forth be secured by the elite Special Forces Command (SFC) bodyguards.
Each of the legislators got two SFC bodyguards in addition to the police VIP or Counter Terrorism guards they previously had.
A source inside the NRM Caucus told our reporter that five legislators considered to be in “high risk” have already been given the specialized men overtly putting on their SFC uniforms.
At least two senior legislators, including a cabinet minister, were today seen at Parliament with their newly acquired guardians from the President’s protection force.
The development comes just 10 days after the brutal gunning down of Arua Municipality MP, Ibrahim Abiriga, the most enthusiastic NRM legislator who loved to dress fully in his party colors.
Abiriga, who was the first to declare support for age limit amendment, was killed with a UPDF officer.
When contacted on phone, the SFC Spokesman, Jimmy Denis Omara dodged commenting on the matter and instead referred us to the MPs.
