Students in Secondary schools in Kagadi District have asked
government to strongly punish Kidnapers, murderers and violators of
Children’s rights as a deterrent condition.
Some of the students who talked to our reporter during a one day
students Seminar that coincided with the day of African Child at Uganda
Rural development and training Program(URDT) in Kagadi town council Kagadi
district over the weekend said the
escalating kidnaps, murder of innocent people and violators of children’s
rights in Uganda should be severely penalized as a deterrent condition.
Sharon Atuhaire, a S.4 student of St. Margaret
Mary’s Muhorro Girls sss said, some parents and school
administration are to blame for being lax over serious issues. They should be
on look out for their children and protect them as most kidnappers target
pupils and students in schools and on their way home. She added that some
children have been kidnapped on their way home in Kagadi town while others have
been assaulted.
Mujuni Ategeka a student of Owobusobozi Itambiro sss, said child
violations such as child labour, sexual harassments, defilement by responsible
corporal punishments are responsible for school drop outs and academic failure
and asked government through the judiciary to severely
punish the culprits as a deterrent measure.
