Fort Portal taxi operators hike transport fares as fuel prices go high|Vok News.

Taxi operators in Fort Portal have hiked transport fares as a result of the high fuel prices. A litter of diesel has increased from shillings 3,500 to shillings 3,630 and petrol from shillings 3,500 to shillings 4,000. As a result, operators of public transport in Fort Portal have increased their fares with some doubling it. 

Transport fares from Fort Portal- Kasese have gone up to 8,000 from 7,000 shillings, Fort Portal- Mbarara 25,000 from 20,000 shillings, Fort Portal- Bunyaruguru 15, 000 from 10,000. Fort Portal-Kampala 24,000 from 22,000 shillings.
Patrick Mugisa, a supervisor at Fort Portal-Kasese stage says that they have decided to hike the transport fares because of the fuel prices which is affecting their business.

Bernard Kandole, a taxi driver and chairman of Kobil taxi stage, says that this is their time to make some money since they have been operating on losses because of the high fuel price. Kandole wants the passengers to bear with them because they have nothing they can do.
