Jamil Mukulu |
Mukulu said that he has spent a lot of time in jail with no indication that they will ever be on trial. He also faulted the prosecution for refusing to share details about the exhibits to be used in the trial, and for deliberately delaying the process through unnecessary adjournments.
His plea was presented by lawyer Caleb Alaka before International Crimes Division Judge Eva Luswata during a pre-trial hearing held yesterday. Senior State Attorney Thomas Jatiko told the court that prosecution was still analyzing the exhibits and would be sharing them with the lawyers soon.
Mukulu has been in detention since April 2015 when he was arrested in Tanzania and later extradited to Uganda. He is charged with terrorism, murder, aggravated robbery, belonging to a terrorist organization and crimes against humanity, among others.
