Security Operatives in Kamwenge have called for
vigilance as football fans watch world cup tournament. The
2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off yesterday in Russia. The world's biggest soccer
event in the Russian capital, Moscow will run till July 14th.
In
different parts of the country, several bars and other hangout places are
improving security measures to avoid a repeat of the 2010 terror attacks. It
was during the final match of the 2010 edition when two simultaneous terror
attacks in Kampala left at least 76 people dead and hundreds others injured.
On Wednesday, the police through its Operations and Counter Terrorism Directorate issued security guidelines to be followed by hotels, restaurants and video halls that will be showing screening World Cup matches.
The guidelines, issued during a media briefing at Naguru Police headquarters, will be enforced by personnel from the Counter Terrorism Directorate.

a similar tone, Didas Byaruhanga the District Police Commander Kamwenge is now
calling for vigilance as football fans watch soccer. He says that fans should
be conscious of their personal security as they choose where to watch world cup
from.
