Police
have arrested a man who was attempting to steal an ambulance from Kalisizo
Hospital. The suspect is identified as Ismail Musa Musasizi, a resident of
Namasuba Central Zone in Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality-Wakiso district.
Musasizi was found in possession of army fatigues, master keys and a number of fake number plates including UAJ 811X and UAJ 118X. He was in the company of two others, who managed to escape before the arrest of their colleague.
Eyewitnesses say that the trio was riding on a motorcycle Reg. No. UDF 929G,
and parked outside the hospital gate. However, their repeated movements in and
out of the facility raised suspicion prompting questions from motorcyclists.
Musasizi admitted to the crime saying they had come for the ambulance and a double cabin that belongs to the District Health Officer. He adds that the mission was to take the cars to Democratic Republic of Congo or other preferred destinations.
