Armed Congolese soldiers have again invaded the Lake Albert waters robbing
several fishing gears belonging to Ugandan fishermen.
Yesterday,
the Armed Congolese soldiers raided lake Albert waters taking off with five
boat Engines, four boats fishing nets and fish near Kaiso and Kyehoro landing
site in Kabwoya and Buseruka sub-counties in Hoima district.
Vincent Alpha Opio, the Kabwoya Sub County Councilor says that the Congolese
Armed with three guns and dressed in military uniform raided the lake and
ordered Ugandan fishermen on the lake to surrender all their fishing gear to
them.
Opio describes the development as unfortunate adding that Ugandan fishermen have continuously been attacked and robbed of their belongings by Armed Congolese soldiers on Ugandan waters yet security operatives in the country have taken no initiative to change the situation.In a telephone interview, Robert Ngabirano, the officer in charge of Marine police attached to Sebigoro landing site has confirmed the attack and said they are doing everything possible to ensure that the Congolese soldiers are engaged in order for them to return the robbed fishing gear.
