President Yoweri Museveni says Uganda now has the minimum requirements for sustained economic growth and transformation.
Addressing the nation at the reading of the 2018/19 national budget, Museveni says with surplus electricity, and low cost of transport, money and labor, Uganda is going to be attractive and competitive.
The president says the focus should be on lowering the cost of electricity, transport in order to attract foreign direct investments which would, in turn, produce more goods and services, create jobs and boost exports.
According to Museveni, the key sectors to target include agriculture, by transforming it from subsistence, where majority poor are, to a commercialized one. The president says leaders should not focus on many things but commercialization of agriculture, especially parish-by-parish.
Museveni says another key focus is financing jobless and property less youth in urban to engage in productive activities, starting with grain milling before rolling out to other ventures.
