Makerere University has finally approved a 15% fees
increment. The decision was made on July 6th during a Council Meeting after
they agreed to the conditions set by the Student leaders. Among the demands,
students wanted an assurance that funds will not be misused as has been
previously reported under the Auditor General's reports.
Salim Papa Were, the Guild President says they agreed
to an increment after receiving assurance from the university that money will
be put to proper use.
Were Salim, says that unless students see a change, they will call for scrapping of the increment when they have the annual reviews.
