Three senior assistant secretaries assigned as town clerks for the newly established town councils in Kamwenge district|Vok News

The Chief Administrative Officer Kamwenge Edith Mutabazi has assigned three senior assistant secretaries alias sub county chiefs to act as town clerks for the newly established town councils in Kamwenge district.
The town councils slated to become operational on 1st July 2018 include; Kabujogera curved out of Kicheche Sub County in Kitagwenda, Bigodi curved out of Busiriba Sub County and Kabuga curved out of Kamwenge Sub County.
As plans are underway for the town councils to become operational, Edith Mutabazi the Chief Administrative Officer Kamwenge has assigned Mucunguzi Wilber as the acting town clerk for Kabuga, Mugume Ronald has been assigned Bigodi while Abraham Kibwana will oversee Kabujogera.
Mutabazi says that the assigned officers will be care taking the new town councils until the district service commission advertises and recruits permanent staffs.
However, she says that the district is still experiencing challenges of understaffing due to the newly created town councils. She explains that the matter has already been addressed to the Ministries of Finance and Local government for redress.

Kabale NRM party Youth League chairperson Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha attacked by unidentified thugs|Vok news



Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha, the Kabale National Resistance Movement party Youth League chairperson is nursing injuries following an attack by unidentified thugs on Monday night.
Kamugisha was assaulted by unidentified thugs as he returned to his home near Kasubi Tombs, a Kampala suburb in Lubaga Division in Kampala. In his statement at Nankulabye police station, Kamugisha claims that about four young men attacked him as he approached Kisubi tombs and punched.
According to Kamugisha, despite the fact that he had cash that he had just withdrawn from a mobile money agent, the attackers only made off with his phone. Kamugisha is also a member of the Kick Age Limit Out of the Constitution group, a pressure group that backed the scrapping age restrictions on all elective positions. Some members of the group believe the attack is politically motivated.
Herbert Anderson Burora, a member of the group and newly appointed Wakiso Deputy Resident District Commissioner, says that this is the second time a member of their group is being attacked by unidentified people.
The Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, says they have commenced investigations into the attack.

63 migrants missing, 41 people have been rescued after Sunday's rubber boat sinking in east of Tripoli| Vok News

Dozens of migrants are missing after a rubber boat they were on sank off the coast of Libya. 
One official is quoted as saying 63 migrants have disappeared after Sunday's incident east of Tripoli, while 41 people have been rescued.
About 170 migrants have gone missing in the Mediterranean Sea since Friday.
The boat capsized off Garabouilli, about 50km (31 miles) east of the capital, Tripoli. Citing eyewitnesses, Gen Ayoub Kacem, a spokesman for the Libyan Navy, says that 63 people were missing.
He said 41 would-be migrants, who were wearing life jackets, were saved. More than 1,000 people have died while sailing from Libya to Europe so far this year.

Museveni applauds the late Robert Rutehenda as a gallant soldier|Vok News

President Yoweri Museveni has described the late former Mbarara Municipal mayor, Lay Canon Robert Rutehenda as a gallant Soldier. Rutehenda was buried yesterday at his ancestral home in in Nyakigando in Ibanda district.
In his condolences message, Museveni revealed that he walked a long journey with the deceased right from their school days at Mbarara High school and Ntare School. He explained that the deceased remained a loyal cadre up to his death.  
He hailed the late Rutehenda for helping in the National Resistance Army-NRA bush war struggle, which ushered the NRM government into power. Speaking at the same funeral, the Karamoja Affairs Minister, Engineer John  Byabagambi, observed that the deceased dedicated his time to helping others and also ensuring that the ruling National Resistance Movement remains strong in the district.

The deceased's widow, Victoria Rutehenda used the burial ceremony to demand for a meeting with the president. She explained that her husband had three wishes not to suffer before his death, not to be flown overseas for treatment and to die as a member of NRM.
